We planned an outing on the City Sightseeing Red Bus with some friends yesterday so that we could go and take some pictures along the Red Bus Route. I took my Mom, daughter and her friend along as well, as we enjoyed it so much when we went in June.
We headed out to Darling and Yzerfontein. The flowers aren’t out completely yet but you can see the country side is slowly transforming into the most beautiful patchwork quilt. We wanted to go to Duckett Nurseries but their open day was 4th September so I took some photos in their property – was amazed to see how many people were wandering around taking photos of the flowers. From there we went to Evita se Perron – had heard so much about it but had never seen it.. Quite an education to walk through I must say!
Last week being the annual September school holidays allowed me to undertake an outing with a difference – see one of Cape Town’s newest attractions and see one of its oldest, all with my 6 year old brother in tow!
I went to the Cape Town Airshow on Friday and it was AMAZING. I was in awe and cant believe I have never been before. Africa Aerospace & Defence Airshow 2010 the largest aerospace, defence, and security exhibition in Africa, held against the backdrop of Table Mountain.
The Gold of Africa Museum, Stop 11 on the Red City Tour has a warm and special glow about it just as gold itself. In its gold-mining heyday South Africa produced two-thirds of the world’s gold, and the Gold of Africa Museum, tells the story of the rich gold tradition locally, as well as in the rest of Africa. The Gold of Africa Museum’s primary role is to preserve the art of African wrought gold.
This cobbled square was originally a slave market, then a fruit and vegetable market in Cape Town. Today you can pick up local art, crafts, fabrics and artifacts from almost every country on the continent at this open-air gathering place.
We decided to take the train to Kalk Bay to go to Brass Bell for lunch.. as always a lovely outing! Travelling on the train was great too – really is door to door as Brass Bell’s entrance is on the station!

On Tuesday, September 7th, about 1.30 in the afternoon, I was riding my bicycle on Rhodes Drive towards Constantia Nek. About halfway between Southern Cross Drive and Constantia Nek, which is to say possibly a kilometre or so from the Nek, on an uphill I became aware of the sounds of a heavy vehicle following.
