My trip to Robben Island

Submitted by on August 6, 2010 – 10:31 amNo Comment

We decided to take the 3pm Ferry to Robben Island – and what a perfect day we chose for the outing! It also brought tears to my eyes thinking how far we are have progressed.. How proud Nelson Mandela must be that we as fellow South Africans stood together, partied together, united together and brought together the most amazing World Cup ever!

The tour was very informative and it was nice to see the Island again. Our tour of the Island in 1992 was quite different. We had gone around the perimeter of the Island in a little old bus and I was impressed with the new modern busses that they had to transport the tourists around. Our tour guide was very good and it was a good call to go there again. It was interesting seeing a new perspective of the way things were. I was amazed how emotional hearing the stories and an still in awe of a what a wonderful man Nelson Mandela is.

The trip home was a bit chilly and bumpy hence the shaky pictures..but I thought I would share them anyway as Cape Town, Table Mountain and the stadium looked fantastic from the sea.

Yvonne LudenMy Name is Yvonne Luden. I have always been passionate about photography for as long I can remember. I spent the whole of my first salary buying my first camera – a second hand one at that! I have upgraded each time and now am the proud owner of a Nikon D200. I just love taking photos around our beautiful city and country. I also love taking photos of children and fun family shots. I feel that one learns from every single picture you take, and one can only get better!
